Pray for the church: May ‘having open and meaningful relationships’ become the norm in the life of the church and may ‘hiding in the church as a nobody’ become impossible in this church. (3 of 3)
John 13:34-35
‘A new commandment I give to you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.’
Question: How does this command of the Lord Jesus to love one another urge every church member to actively step forward to serve in the ministry of the church?
Reference Answer:
Motivated by Love: The Lord Jesus teaches us to love one another, and this love is selfless and giving. Out of love for others, church members are motivated to serve and meet the needs of the church and others.
Exemplary Effect: When some members of the church are actively involved in ministry, their behaviour becomes an example that inspires and motivates others to join in the ministry. This modelling effect creates a positive culture in the church.
Building Relationships: Through loving one another, church members will grow closer to one another. This relationship building leads to a greater willingness to participate and commit to the ministry of the church together, knowing that they are serving their loved ones and extended family.
Sense of Responsibility and Belonging: Love enhances the sense of responsibility and belonging among church members. When people feel loved and cared for, they are more willing to return that love by actively participating in the various ministries of the church and contributing to the development of the church and the benefit of all.
Sense of accomplishment and satisfaction: Participating in ministry is not only giving, but also receiving. In serving, church members can experience a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction in helping others and see the positive impact of their efforts on others and the church, thus further motivating them to continue to participate in ministry.
The example of the Lord Jesus: The Lord Jesus exemplified selfless love and service through His life and actions. Church members who follow the Lord Jesus' teachings will naturally follow His example and be willing to give and give to others and to the church.
The Lord Jesus' teaching calls each of us church members to love one another, which means that we are urged to actively participate in the ministry of the church (the body of the Lord Jesus Christ), so that each of us can find our place in the ministry and experience the practical actions and fruits of love.
